heaters?

This may be a stupid question...but do I need a heater on my 180? Here is south florida it rarely gets cold and if it does my central air switches over to heat. I also have a submerged mag 12 and quiet one 6000 submerged...which I'm sure will add some heat. Chiller is on a single stage controller. Am I ok with this setup? Thanks

maybe, maybe not, check your tempeture, if its dropping more then two degrees below your chillers set point i would def. get one.

With my 250, I have never installed a heater. I've found that the tank's equipment generate plenty of heat to maintain tank temps, even when the house is cooler in the winter.

I don't think u do at all. I run a Ranco cotroller set at 77 and rarely drops below 76.

BTW there's not such a thing as winter in South Fla.- isn't that the reason we all still live in this rat race after all.LOL

I remember the day it snowed when I was living in Jupiter.

Tperk, Are you talking about back in 91/92. I was actually out of town on vacation for that one, but I heard water actually froze.

The point is you don't want the temp to fluctuate too much. If you keep your AC cold and your equipment doesn't generate enough heat to keep it stable, get a heater. I unplugged mine for a while, but plugged it back in when the temp was fluctuating between 79 (day) and 74 (night).
