heating issues

purchased a cheap heater, but im having to add about a gallon of water a day from evaporation, its getting ridiculous, so i took it out and burned the crap out of my fingers, you could see the heat around it while it was in the water, is this normal for most heaters, its a 50w and its a 46 gal tank, im sure its not enough watts but would getting a heater with more wattage slow down my evaporation issues

sry actually after looking closely at the heater it says 110-120v and 50-60hz

what kinda lights you got? as that will add to evap rate also.

i have the coralife 2x96w lights, however, i hardly run them because i have no fish or corals and still kinda ending my cycle, so i might run them 2-3 hours a day
