Heating room rather than tank.

Hi there,

im putting a large fowlr in my freshwater tank room I was wondering if heating/cooling the room as I currently do to 26 will my equipment heat the water? i plan on titanium heaters as redundancy and an external chiller for same reason. It’s a large tank and in my mind (a scary place at times ) it works and should remain a stable temp but in all the vids I’ve seen there hasn’t been someone heating just the room for marine that I’ve seen.

regards Duzzy

What is the room temp. As long as you keep the room temp in a range for SW tanks, should be no problem.

Heating the room is my preference. Water vapor follows heat flow and heating a tank in cool weather and a room is cooler can increase humidity (sometimes a good thing in cold dry weather) and condensation on windows and other things in a room.

Old post but asking about humidity. In winter time we have minimum -10 C for few days max.
As soon im going to prepare a tank for filling asking how you fixed high humidity in room.
On the wall i plan to add rock wool than cover permeable protection for humidity to pass to walls
and on top OSB wooden plate painted with good high quality washable paint. Its create layer
that not allow fungue to pass out even in case that start created behind the plate or thermal isolation.

As we are on court with condominium allready 6 years they need to solve outside walls on 11th floor we are
we decide and get on court with professionals and not neighbours without elementary school talking so
dummy things on meetings that we dont even participate any more on devil invidia and primitive decisions.
When you cant find mutual solution court and building professionals is the king.

O.k. heating room after i place thermal isolation inside will be easier but the best will be if they start isolate
from outside...in few years maybe.

Balcony get new windows 3ple glass different thickness ect...small humidity bellow is created as its normal in
winter time...regular open few times a day all windows for few monutes
and create wind help reduce humidity measured for 20% in 5 min...and heating is much better with fresh air as well.

HOw you solving humidity? PLaning to purchase also one good dehumidifier only for living room where is tank.
Will help this? 24 liter per day declared.

OSB 1 plate 11 Euro dimension 2050 mm x 625 mm x 18 mm thick. Need few plates to cover outside wall completely.
Of course all tight well that air cant enter or exit behind thermal isolation.
As on this side there is also some mobile antenna will put also small tinny net mesh to kick away any radiation
of idiots who approved to place mobile antenas in living building appartment roof. I know its not
Faradey cage but helps a lot trust me. 30 years ago worked with cable TV transmitters Microwaves ect
and placing 1m x 1 m mesh net by side of Sat or any antenna deflect signal 90% away.

Sorry for long post - open windows in winter time its not an solution as some proposed to have open on kip //

When I had my large tank that led to humidity issues, I installed a simple bathroom fan but had it connected to a humidistat. So, when humidity reached a predetermined level, the fan would turn on and vent air to the outside.

Just another thought. @Nanook has a split system air conditioner installed in his fish room. So, that would be another (but more expensive) option.

Of course i thinked also that only good air condition unit will do both heat and dehumidifie room.
Its better idea than separate dehumidifier as most of clima units have it. Thanks for your suggestion.
