just started a new tank and was introducing a Heliofungia actiniformis and it was fine for a bit then it retracted and started to make a layer of mucus around itself. I've seen brain coral make mucus but never a healthy helio? all my water parameters are fine and all the pumps and heaters are fine. I did a dip and all that. any ideas are appreciated.

im not sure, but that does not look like a fungia to me

looks more like a euphyllia like a torch, hammer, or frogspawn.

I am 100%sure it is a helio, its tentacles are snuggled up inside the coral outer shell
I take it back, I was looking at the wrong page in my book it is a Euphyllia paraglabrescens, I opened the book to the wrong bookmarks silly me. but still why is it making mucus?
