One of my Helioporas is recovering now in my new tank (the other is just fine) -- it had been receding in the old tank for about a year, most likely due to my not changing bulbs in the appropriate timeframe. The tissue is growing back together now nicely and the polyps are extending again daily. My question is, for iron supplementation, should I just stick to water changes or is it advisable to dose iron into the tank? I really would rather not test for it, but if that's what I need to do that's what I'll do. I have read before that just putting an iron nail in the sump or substrate and letting it rust is a very simple way to ensure adequate iron supply in the tank for this kind of creature. Thanks in advance for any advice...
