Hello and WTB - tank

Hey all,

I've gotten hooked on the idea of a reef tank.....and am searching for a tank to start with.

I'm limited to a 4 foot tank for now but certainly have grand plans for a 6 or 8 footer :-)!

Any rate, if you have a tank that you want to sell and it is 4 foot wide, let me know.

I started my first reef tank last winter. I went small, a JBJ 12DX. While a smaller tank is slightly harder to manage, the cost of a disaster is significantly reduced. I also have lots of experience in FW planted tanks, so I was willing to take on the challenges of a smaller tank. So far, other than some small livestock issues, all inhabitants are doing fine.

Take a look at nano-reef.com. There are lots of threads regarding starter tanks that you can use as a guide. It is a very useful resource. Good luck.

Hi! dantodd,

Do you have canopy on your 72 bow front? How do you mount your lighting fixture?

Thanks guys.

I want to try a mandarin so a nano tank is out of the question.

I'll contact the guy on craigslist....I've contacted several other options on there too.

yeah; well, that's a funny story......

I have the AGA tank and wooden stand but somehow ended up with the cheapy Oceanic canopy, which is pretty light weight. I rigged up a wooden frame inside and glued/screwed it to the top frame of the canopy. I then attached the reflectors for my MH to that wooden frame. MY VHOs are laying across the tank top. It's a real bear to get in and out of the tank. I do hope to have a better solution one day....

I will have a 72 gallon Oceanic bowfront (not RR) with the cherry contrast stand available in about a week. If interested send me a pm. I will also have a CPR 24" hang-on refugium, which is helpful for the mandarin.

I have Oceanic plastic canopy too. I am trying to figure out how to install T5 retro into it. Headache.
