What Up Everybody?
My name is Josh and I'm a new reefer down here in Tucson. I just wanted to throw my name out there and meet everybody who browses the forums for our area. I also wanted to tell you guys about my new build, pics will be following so come back weekly.
I just moved from out of state and am setting my 215g reef tank again. I'm working on getting the plumbing done this week and hopefully start stocking the tank with live rock in about 2 weeks. I plan on making my tank SPS dominated with a frogspawn and maybe a brain or some other softies, but not many.
I got the tank popped out of the moving crate today. I'm using the 2x4's and the particle board sheets that comprised the crate to make a workbench that my fuge will sit on as well as a lower shelf for some gear. I am taking my time with the build to make sure it looks clean and is easy to maintain. The sump, fuge, protein skimmer, bio reactor, calc reactor, chiller and all filtration will occur in the garage and will be plumbed through the wall to the display.
I am also going to set up some kind of closed loop system once I get everything up and running to help with the water circ inside the tank. I am going for a clean look with no powerheads, pipes or cords visible except for the return lock pipes from the sump and the closed loop.
If anybody is on the lookout for a new MH lighting fixture, I have a 48" fixture that has 2 250watt MH HQI (double ended) bulbs in it and it also has blue LED moonlights and 6 power compact actinics. I can send pix if anyone is interested. I'm asking $300 OBO. It will come with ballasts and all power cords. It also has 2 internal fans to cool the MH's.
Also, I will be on the lookout to snag some sps frags once everything is up and running and stable. I plan on putting a lot of species of acros in the tank so if there's any local peeps out there with some acros they wouldn't mind fragging out to me for a good price, let me know!
