Hello - Even though I have been working with computers since 1984 I have never been a member of a forum nor have I ever been in a chat room. Hard to figure!

Anyhow - just wanted to introduce myself! I have been in and out of the Salt water hobby for many years until about three years ago. I have been attempting to get a Reef tank going on a very limited budget and have had little or no luck. I have finally gotten the tank where I think I can start adding inverts so am open to suggestions.

I also want to offer my services on a barter system if anyone is interested in that sort of thing. As I said I have a limited budget so cannot afford much for the Reef (38 gal) but maybe I can accomplish what I am trying for by trading. I am a Data network Engineer and have been doing this same work since 84. I know Windows (all OS), UNIX, Linux, Novell with all the network frills. Be willing to help for frags or whatever anyone has a lot of and wants to get rid off some.

I am finding I am not that well versed when it comes to Reef so need some guidance. The last time I left the hobby, undergravel was the rage. Guess that dates me!

Good Luck All
Grant

Welcome! I just joined the forum as well! I've been an dinternet freak since I can remember and still not quite sure how to get the pics and links and stuff into the forum threads. Undergravel... ew lol... unless it's a plenum. which in my opinion is still ew...lol

Grant,

welcome to the club! Best way to learn is to go to our monthly meetings - lots of things are discussed, and, best of all, you see a different tank each month and therefore the different principles in set up!

As for bardering: Sounds great to me! I can give you some frags and therefor have some 'Network Help Dollars' stored away! Where were you 2 weeks ago when I replaced my Ethernet LAN with a Routered wireless LAN? Had problems, but I think they are resolved!

Great to have you aboard,

Welcome Grant, looks like we are in the same line of work :D and I've just returned to the marine scene after some 30 years of absence. Last but not least I am moving next door to the Berkshires. So Swamp Bottom will be just a 10 min drive for me :)

Regards,
Peter
