Hey everyone! I'm happy to say I've successfully moved my tanks to Chico and so far (crossed fingers) hair algae hasn't shown back up in almost two weeks!!! Yeah!!! Planning to do a few weekly water changes (used to monthly) and keep the filter pads in to remove any additional phosphates or silicates.
Also I've swiched over to and started back again with 100% Coralife salt again and ceased use of Oceanic (finally finished off that huge 200gal bucket). I saw someone else mention that they too had diatoms in their salt mixture container indicating excess silicates from Oceanic mix. As a control my RO/DI 'fresh' water container did not have any diatom growth. Not trying to start a salt argument but just stating my experience.
Any Chico people out there let me know. Maybe we could exchange coral or ride-share down to Folsom/Davis for meetings/swaps etc.
Funny now that I've moved away from Folsom I seem to be more active on the board again. I really appreciate all MARS has done especially the WMC team. I've really learned a lot and hope to still participate from up here.
