I did put an uncooked shrimp in, thats why I said I started the cycle above. I also put some food in. ;)

My bad, thats what I get for skimming through a page. What do you plan to put it the tank when it is done with the cycle?

Looks like a great start. I ran a cprbakpak on my 20g then bought a remora when I moved to the 29g ......

Well a little update.

The tank is cycled and now home to a small snail, 1 Red claw Crab, 1 Blue claw Crab, and 2 small 3 Stripe Damsels which I just added today.

A couple photos.

Can anyone identify this little creature growing on one of my live rocks? Is it good, bad, indifferent?

I am not sure about the skimmer, some days it will be bubbling into the cup others days not so much. I can adjust the cup up and down without much difference. I may try swapping the pump for a larger one to see if it makes much difference. It does smell awful though when I open the cup and I do have to empty it from time to time. So it is doing something.

Well I was just informed I have Sergeant Majors and not 3 Stripe Damsels. That is lame because they get far to big. Oh well they can stay for now I guess.

The damsels will get mean or at least most do.. You will probaly have to take the rocks out to get them out if and when you want them to be gone at some point.

The pic above is an aptasia. BAD. Try to kill it before it spreads. They can overtake a tank if you are not careful. If you don't plan on doing coral then let it go if you want, but if you are going to do coral then kill it. You will get them form time to time from your rock and new frags that you ad. You can douse it with several aptasia killers on the market. I have a bottle of stuff from Coral reef that has worked well for me in the past. Or you can do peperment shrimp. I use the shrimp. They are cheap and I like inverts. Some of them have been known to eat some corals though I thinkk that is pretty rare.

Thanks for the info, thats what pretty much everyone has said. I think I'll try the shrimp route.

well if the shrimp won't eat it them get some Joe's Juice or some kalkwasser and make a paste and feed it to the aiptaisia....should make short work of it. They will spread and are not a good thing to have....I know I have one or two in my tank that came on a coral frag.....grrrr....need to juice them soon.
