Clam are more concerned with their lighting. Metal Halides and certain LED's can work for them. If placed right T5's could do the trick as well. Clams do not need strong flow because they will not open as well. As long as the lighting is efficient then the clams should be healthy. If you desire some flow invest in a jet or two they moves the water over than createing a current.
Also if your worried about your lighting not being strong enough your best bet would be to go with a durasa clam. They don't require as much lighting as most clams and would do good under less intense lighting. Iv'e got one under some old VHOs(in the process of upgrading to leds) and its doing great.
Thank you for the help the added lighting input helped. Lighting I am kinda still in the research phase. I think I'll most likely go with Metal halide lights I found some pretty good low cost models.
