Hello? Anyone out there?? LOL Where is everyone???
*sigh* I know....everyone's busy.......me, too, been SUPER busy trying to get hubby's business going. Trying to get government contracts and get some $$$ into the company. Haven't had too much time to spend on the tanks.
I did get new bulbs for the big tank. I figured 17 month old bulbs needed to be replaced. I reduced the hours the MH runs so I don't shock the animals in the tank with better/brighter bulbs. I need new bulbs for the 24/g next. I've had that for 1 year this March.
I also added a hydor koralia (did I spell that right?) to the big tank. Talk about some serious flow. My research indicated a HK3 would be perfect, in fact maybe slightly less than what I should have. But HOLY COW!!!! The fish are funny now.....swimming in the current it gives off. (remember, my tank is a tall tank, not a long tank) It makes me think of those Cruise Ship commercials where the people are "surfing" in an artificial water current......well, that's what my fish are doing. LOL Well, maybe not that bad....lol.....but still, the fish seem more active now.
Well, all except one fish. I got a new fish over the weekend. A scopas tang. Beautiful fish. But he's not too keen on the flow going on in there. So I am alternating on/off with it. The off time gives him time to pick at the rocks and eat a bit. LOL I've read on the internet that some people have set these things on timers.....on 15/mins, off 15/mins, etc. Good idea? Seems to me that would burn it out quicker?!?!?
Anyway.......that seems to be about the most excitement. New bulbs, new fish, and new pump to move the water better. LOL
