here are some pictures of my bta, he moved into a hidden area so it was hard to take the pictures, do you guys think he may be splitting ?

I think you need to target feed that animal. It's tentacles are very short which indicates it has not been getting sufficient light. How long have you had it?

I have had it for about a month and he eating brine once a week when i target feed him his tentacles are still short though and I'm thinking it is because he is being target fed and doesn't need to extend them to get more light.

First off brine is about as nutritional to your fish/nem as a pack of gum is to you. Try target feeding mysis shrimp they are much more nutritional and can be bought at about any fish store in little cubes for about $7. What type of lighting are you using, and how old/ what size is the tank? That nem to me looks like it is consuming itself to stay alive. It should have much longer and far more compact tentacles. Even if it was bubbled up it wouldn't look like it does in those pics. Provide us with some more info and we can help you get it healthy again.

I target feed it brine and switch off with myso shrimp. It is a 29 Gallon biocube and all of my parameters are perfect except for slightly low ph but that doesn't seem to effect my bubble coral. As for the tank being mature it is about 2 years old and has all the healthy signs. Thankyou for your response.

Are you using the stock lighting on the biocube? It may not be strong enough to keep the nem. I've heard several say they have had to add lighting to theirs. I'm just throwing out ideas now. What are your parameters? And what are you using as flow? Something is off, if you've had it a month and it still looks like that being fed. Try feeding it more often say 3-4 times a week till its tentacles grow back.

Like I said my parameters are fine and I am using a powerhead not quite kind which one it came with the biocube and I am also using the stock lighting but I am assuming the lighting has no difference because he looks like he is trying to escape the light.

Help anemone splitting?

I'm pretty positive it's because of your lighting. The stock lightings that biocube offers is not sufficient enough to support an anemone.

No need to get offensive. But I'll say it one more time its either something in the water parameters or your lighting. A healthy bta will take as much light as it can get. Two of mine sit directly under my 250w mh and still eat mysis like crazy. They hide from it for just a few reasons. 1. There sick (probably not the case here as the mouth is closed and its not deflating) 2. new addition trying to acclimate but usually move back to bright light very soon.(also not the case here because you have had it for a month) 3. They don't like the lighting they are receiving.( most likely the issue) if they don't like the spectrum they will hide from it. In this case it's roaming I think trying to find more and better lighting. Again the nem looks like its consuming itself for energy hense the very short tentacles. Add Some reef capable leds or a t5 or small Mh and I bet it will be a lot better

Ok thank you for your support bjledbetter and everyone else, do you have a recommendation on what to get to upgrade my lighting? I would not know what to look for. Thanks

Ok so I have been reading up on the lighting and I do not want to spend 250 on a kit like Steve's led kit or Rapids but would getting a Ecoxotic Panorama Pro 2.0 16W 445nm Blue/Magenta LED Module to replace say the white light in the cube work? Can I juggle that off with my blue actinic to give my anemone the light it needs? or should I just buy two of those moddules and completely replace the already existing bulbs?

I'm not sure about those fixtures. I've not heard of them. Keep in mind this ratio you want about 75% white light to 25% blues. To keep a nem happy you need about 4 watts per gallon of water. My best advice now that your looking for lights its go ask the guys in the equipment fourem what to get. Another helpful hint buy a used fixture if you can it will save you a lot. Keep us posted on how its doing.

I would even look into taking the top off the tank it thats possible (I don't know much about the cubes) and doing a 150w mh over it. You can buy them used fairly cheap and just buy a new bulb if needed

Ok Finally got the money to buy the LED system. It is made by fluvial and is meant to promote coral growth it is made for nano tanks but I simply gutted out the interior of my hood pc bulbs etc... and installed. The BTA has looked the same ever since but now i placed him on top of the rock towards the light a few days before getting the system and he took to it.
