Help! Anemone sucked up by powerhead

Ok so, I came home and looked in the tank and my anemone was being sucked up by my powerhead. So I quickly detached it from the powerhead. He's pretty torn up. You can definately tell that he tore off a few tentacles. Right now he looks great, he's all bubbled up and still has his color, but won't accept any food. What do I need to do now to treat him? Is he going to survive or not. Let me know. I can get pics if possible. Thanks.

Don't do anything to the anemone at all. Just do an extra water change and make sure your parameters are in check. Feed the anemone only when its healed up. What kind of anemone is this?

It's a GBTA. Did I do the right thing to remove it from the powerhead with a little force. And what percentage water change do you recommend?

This happens to anemones a lot and they have a very high chance of surviving. In your case it doesn't sound to drastic. I have read threads where the anemone was completely cut in half and it still made it. Just give it a couple days and I bet it will take the food.

I've never had this to happen since I don't have power heads, but put the anemone in an area with no current where he can heal. If you can't find a place, put him in an isolation box or breeder box that fits inside the tank and gets water flow from the tank. This will eliminate some water flow, but you still need some to keep the debris from building up. I would do a 25% water change.

Do NOT feed the anemone until it is healed. You can start feeding it when there are no more rips or tares in it but make sure the oral disc, the foot, and the mouth or healed. Start by feeding it a bit of mysis every 3 days (once it is healed, that is) for one week. After that week, feed it a larger amount of mysis the day after it expells waste. Once it expells waste again, feed it the next day. Repeat that a few times and then go back to regular feeding. Good luck! :D

My LTA did this to me twice about 3 years ago. I still have it and it is very healthy. If your anemone ever gets stuck in a powerhead, just unplug the powerhead, set it on the bottom and let the anemone pull itself out. Sometimes you can do more harm trying to extract it.
