Help! Anyone good w/ ballasts?

Hey all,

My friend's NC 12g DX ballast was fried today and the lights don't work anymore. I called nanocustoms today and they said the earliest they could get to it was sometime next week. They said it was fixable, I didn't need to replace the entire ballast. Is anyone good w/ this? I can offer corals, tanks, equipment, or cash in compensation for your time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can get a new more reliabe ballast at Home Dopot for $17.00 if I remember the price correctly.

My question is... Can I just change the lil Pony ballast alone or do I have to change the complete black box ballast that the cube comes with. Is it possible that the wires or other parts were affected? When I turn it on now, only the ballast starts steaming, nothing else.

Also, do you know the brand of the ballast that I can purchase at Home depot? It's for a nanocube DX 2x24W.
