I was gone for a 3 day weekend and when I got home my leather was covered in black spots. There was nothing Saturday. Anyone know what this is and how to treat it? I have never seen one shed with black spots.
Necrosis IMO. Once this starts, especially with this particular type of coral it has always been a lost cause for me. You might want think about either fragging the coral or perhaps dipping the coral in a Lugol's solution, but I'm not really sure if these will help. GL.
I ended up finding out it is actually "shed rot". I had never heard of that before. A quick iodine dip and most of it came off. Majority of the rest came off with a soft tooth brush. Moved it to a little more flow and the rest of the shed has come off and it's opening back up.
The black spots I encountered would come right off as well, but they always seemed to come back soon after. Let's hope this isn't the case with yours. GL.
