what is the best way to recover a half bleached coral that has been exposed to high salinity levels. this morning my acro frag was fine polyps extended and everything. i come home today half of it is bleached because some water was evaporated and cause a slainity spike. help me out guys and gals.

I believe that you would have to evap alot of water really fast to cause enough of a spike to see any serious problems. Are you sure that it is nothing else?

Also te be honest, it is hard enough for some one with many years experience to keep a small nano SPS reef thriving then it would be for someone with only 6 months. My guess is that your tank is in no way stable enough to keep SPS corals. JMO

First, get a drip topoff. Second, make the change back to good levels as slow as it would have been going bad. Third, couple a salinity check on that tank to something you do as faithfully every morning as your cup of coffee. Take coffee, check salinity, no exceptions, until you know that drip is set right. Fourth, if salinity got that bad since your last check, test your params. ANything could be off.

Come on jjjimmy...Give me some credit! :D

mermin - best thing to do id feed, feed, feed! Bring nutrients up so that the zooanthelle can work.

ok there is no way im giving up that easy jimmy.these were starter corals anyways.but ill feed cyclopese habitually and make sure to stabalize my levels. school, work and keeping 6 tanks is a pain in the butt but im up to the challenge

Sorry if I came across as though you should give up. I was just trying to let you know the uphill battle you are facing keeping "advanced" corals in a nano.
