I got this tang from Captain Larry's about 4 weeks ago. It is in a 55 gallon tank which is 4 foot long. In the beginning it would eat some romaine lettuce that I would put out. But now will not eat. I have noticed that the fish would go to the cleaner shrimp a lot to be cleaned. The color has fated, is breathing rapidly, not swimming, and is skinny.

What can I do to make it eat?? What am I doing wrong??
Someone Please Help!!!

I tested my water params yesterday and everything was good:
Salinity= 1.022
Ammonia= 0
Nitrite= 0.2
Nitrate= 10
pH= 8.0

try shredding some fresh garlic in the blender with a little bit of water. thats how i got my blue tang to start eating. i had the same issue you did. she is pulling through just fine now and loves the garlic

Yes the fish was a very good eater from the start. Also realized that my b/w clownfish and my sea urchin LOVE the romaine.

I feed my tangs Nori soaked in VitaChem.

Try some pellets and flake. They need a variety. I'm not sure they get much nutrition out of romain on its own.

I give my tang brine, mysis, nori, spirulina flakes, and it is a good eater. Sometimes they get lack of nutrition attacks, and get sick. They always need natural algae in the diet. Brine is kind of like feeding it candy. If you get the Brine with spirulina (frozen) would be better. Petsmart normally has it in their freezer foods.
