Not sure since it's been a long time I've owned one. You May try to increase the circulation . Change the lighting- either increase or decrease?

If it were me I would remove the unaffected part from the diseased part rather quickly and move to a similar location in the tank.

If it dies, save the skeleton. I had an old bit regrow after while serving as structural rock.

Also check your alk test et al to be sure it's not expired: bad readings can mess things up.
