Help! Clownfish died

Hi i woke up this morning and went to feed my fish and one didn't come to the surface and I looked around my tank and found one of my clownfish dead.

I immediately tested my water and
Ammonia: 0.5-0.25
Nitrite: 0
PH: 8.4. (usually 8)
Nitrate: 0
None of the parameters would of harmed my clown I don't think. So how did he die? My other clown seems fine and my cromis is swimming at the back at the bottom. My corals seem ok to
Current stocking:
2 clownfish (now 1)
1 blue/green cromis
4 hermit crabs (don't know what type)

Your ammonia should be 0, the small spike could be because of the dead fish, but seeing as it hadn't started to break down yet, that unlikely.

How old is the tank? It looks to be a very newish setup.

your ammonia reading is probably false, especially if you're using API test kits

The tank is just over 2 months old and the cromis is looking bad too. The clown that is still I'm there looks like It has sort of a white thing on its lips and a small wound under 2nd white stripe

Temp is 78.2 and yes I'm using Api test kits

May be the beginning of brook. However, fish should not be added to any tank with ammonia greater than zero.

I added them when the ammonia was 0 just over 2 weeks ago. What do you mean by the beginning of a brook

Look up brook and treat it asap. Usually when you see the full syndrome its too late

How big is your tank? Did you get live rock or dead rock?

Why would be because one of your fish most likely was a carrier of whatever it is. Brook is a very fast killer usually killing all of your fish in 2-3 days. Like was said once you see it, it's usually too late to do much about it.

Something in your rock could've killed it... Lots of nasty hitchhikers come in sometimes

If you look at the dead phot of the clown, does it have spots? whiter than usual? it might be a parasite; brook or ich, do you QT?
If you don't you should grab a 10 gal tank, grab a heater, a filter, and then use fresh saltwater and put the fish in there.
Grab cupramine (cooper solution) and follow the instructions.
I've had 3 pairs of clowns die on me because of this and my LFS carried ice in the fishes, it was hidden in their gils so it was hard to spot. Make sure you QT
