Help Design My "Reef-Room"!

Once again I have changed directions with my general game plan :spin2:

This newest plan involves "going all in", and it will surely take me awhile to accomplish both financially and physically.

My intensions are to build a DIY add-on room to our home which will allow me to install my starphire glass 280g (72x30x30) in-wall to be viewed from our bedroom, and have all other required equiptment and related accessories neatly concealed (with room to spare!) in the new add-on! :smokin:

I'm sure many fellow reefer's have already done something similar, and I would love to get input regarding what you included into your design, as well as if there is anything about your design you would change given the opportunity.

I'm sure there are plenty other fellow reefers out there who may not have actual experience designing a "reef-room", yet may still be full of good ideas as far as what to incorporate into one if it was your own dream design... please feel free to share your input with me as well!

Some of the things I plan to include (so far) are:
*Refugium
*Frag tank
*Large central sump system (display, refugium, and frag tank all plumbed together into one sump)
*Closed loop circulation for display (in addition to sump)
*A couple "species only" tanks (possibly also plumbed to central sump?)
*Quarantine system, fish and coral (separate from central sump)
*Sink including RO/DI system and floor drainage system
*Fresh RO/DI water storage including ATO to central sump
*Fresh mixed saltwater storage
*Easy to use water change system! (I need input extra here?)
*...

Please share your input regarding any ideas you have, let me know if I'm missing anything in my planning stage, post links of other builds I may find interesting, and post up a pic or three of your own "reef-room" system if ya' got one!

Thanks in advance - Dave

Not just a floor drain but a raised floor. Build a 'deck' in the fish room then use vinyl flooring to make it water proof. You give it a slight tilt towards the drain. This way anything you drop won't sit on the floor, nor damage it.

I would also recommend some gorilla style shelves to hold as much as possible from a gear perspective.

I would think a separate air conditioner to cool the room would be good. That way you don't have to have a chiller and it keeps the room from getting too humid.

I would also have it to where there would be outlets and cable organizers everywhere to help with the clutter that is bound to happen. And on top of that, lots of table top space to spread out.

Just my dreams for when I get older.

dude jus talk to jeff and anne and they will pretty much make it happen 4 u bro.....I also have a buddy in Dixon who makes custom stands to ur liking for pretty cheap

I second the air conditioner, I have one in my sump room/closet. Saves me from using a chiller, mine is in the garage though, so my water drains out side. I like a raised sump now so you can drain out the bottom for water changes.

Thanks for all the input so far!

I actually already have a never-been-used window mount AC unit in storage too...

Keep the ideas coming
