Help! Emergency

Last night I moved Brooke's tank to a new stand. This morning I found a huge crack on the back glass. It is leaking very slowly. Aghhhhhhh! Does anyone have a 29g for sale. If I can't buy one reef ready can anyone please drill holes for me.

Brooke is on vacation with her mom and sisters. I have been trying to get this tank all ready for a surprise when she gets home tomorrow. I talked to her last night and she said "I can't wait to get home and see my fish". I feel like such a jerk! I can't believe I was that careless.

Everyone has done so much to get this tank going for Brooke. I hate to impose any more, but I am so desperate. I took the day off to get this done. I will drive anywhere. I need a 29g reef ready, or someone to drill holes in glass to make an aquarium reef ready. All the plumbing is 1.5" and 3/4". If anyone has a hole saw for 3/4" and 1 1/2" that I may rent, that would work if I can't buy reef ready. I can't believe this just happened.

Please, I need to get this done today if at all possible. PM, email, or phone 573-547-7562.

Thank you.

You need to also be looking at something to move all the contents into before you have a blowout and have everything laying on the floor dying. If you have a big crack that is leaking, I would be very worried about it blowing out soon. Good luck.

Could still blow out. If you're not going to pull everything out and put it in temporary housing, at the very least have some kind of temporary housing quickly available, along with enough made up saltwater to fill the temporary containers.

still need that tank?

still need that tank?

I have a 29 , its not drilled or anything, 25 bucks its yours. Ill be home till 1 pm I live in house springs.. I know how that is with the tanks, I bought a 240 once and then couldnt fit it in the living room, talk about a major ****er!!! It doesnt have a hood or anything it was a grow out tank for some of my african cichlids. 636-692-5699 My name is Katherine

Yes I drove 1.25 hours to house springs and bought one from armeygal. I then drove 45 minutes to marine solutions and had them drill the holes. Then I drove home, went to hardware store bought a can of black spray paint and painted the back. I am waiting for the paint to dry before I add everything in. I have everything in a twenty gallon with heater and powerhead except for a few rocks in buckets of sea water.

I am thinking of siliconing in an internal overflow. You know the kind with the slots on top? Does anyone know how long it would take the silicone to dry before I could add in the water and live stock?

Believe me, I really could have done without all this. I miss living in the city. I drove for over 4 hours just getting everything I need. And to top it off I didn't get the bulk heads I need. So, tomorrow it's the bulk heads, finish plumbing then back to where it should be. Which brings up my next question...

Hard plumbing verses soft. I am thinking about using hose instead of pvc, at least for the returns. Any comments?

By the way, marine solutions drills glass for $12.00 a hole. I thought that was pretty good. I had first heard $30.00.

Flexible PVC is better than rigid b/c it doesn't make hard turns. Rigid PVC elbows cut down on your pump's efficiency.

Sorry to hear about all of your trouble, but it sounds like you'll pull it together! :D

Im glad the tank worked out for you... when my husband called me at work last night I asked him if the tank had been picked up or not. Im glad to see it handled being drilled.you know that tank ahd been sittingon a shelf in a spare room for atleast 2 weeks with no water just sand and when I was washing it out for you I found pond snails.. OMG!! I freaked out.. they were still freaking alive!!!! I would have stayed and waited for you yesterday but when I went to warm up my car i realised I had no gas and had to get to the gas station. Thank You for the extra 5 bucks that wanst nescesarry...That was really sweet of you.

ohh ps, there is a rule of thumb I read on a different forum thatsilicone usually evaporates the stuff out that can leach into a tank within 24 hrs. depending on the silicone. I remember reading this because Ive resealed a few tanks and did research for a while before I attempted.

They say wait a couple days. Same on pvc glues but I usually glue it and use the pvc within minutes. But,,,,,,,,, smaller volumes are more sensitive. So if asked an opinion, I'd say wait a couple days but would I wait? Probably not.
