My 2 feather duster have commited suicide and I dont know why I havent been messing with them and I got them 1 month and a half ago and they seemed ok i was feeding them only planctoc cause that what the store told me. Are they dead or what?

One of my feather dusters threw its top off....it closed up its tube and grew another one.

This took about a week and a half.

I thought for sure he had died...but he survived!!!!

Shedding of the crown is a sign of starvation. The worm will regrow another and yet another until it finally dies.

They are said to fair better in tanks with a healthy sandbed AND phytoplankton (I would personally add live).

Actually they toss their crown when stressed. Not starving.

Well if you want to be technical you could relate the two. Starvation would most likely cause anything stress... but according to Shimek the shedding of the crown is a result of starvation...which again would cause bodily stress.
