Help figuring out situation with Colt Coral

Ok, at first I thought my tank was crashing because I came back from vacation and had a dead snail and a closed up Colt. I have figured out that my large Electric Blue Hermit has a taste for snail now, but that still leaves the problems with the colt.

He appears to go through cycles, every half hour or so he will close up, turn all white, pull in polyps. In another half hour or so he will open back up, regain a darker color but never open fully.

I noticed a small Aiptasia at his base a while ago but it was too small to nuke, so I waited for it to get biggger. At first, I figured this was why the Colt is unhappy. I bought some Aiptasia RX and nuked it. Been a couple days now and colt is still unhappy.

Water params are normal, so my only thought is there may be some coral warfare going on in my tank. I am running chemi pure currently, but its older now so maybe I should add carbon to test my theory?

Here is my list of corals, and their status, let me know if you think one could be at war with the colt:

* 2 Zoa Colonies, good health, though crab keeps knocking one off the rocks
* 2 Small Shroom colonies (2 to 4 shrooms each), good health
* 1 Figure 8 open brain, OK health, tends to be closed up more than usual lately
* 1 Branching Hammer frag, good health, though crab keeps knocking this one too
* 1 NPS flower tree coral frag (trying my hand at NPS), OK health, feeding ReefRoids, don't think I have narrowed down the correct amount/frequency that is ideal yet. Crab also keeps pushing him over though he is glued down...its more of a bending :(

My lighting is on for 8 hrs a day full blast plus 2 hrs 1/2 strength ramp up and ramp down,

Tank is 4 month old 54G corner, 40lbs or more of rock (15lbs live seed back in Nov). CPR bak pak skimmer temporarily, a recent attempt to get my sump up and running was thwarted by a broken impeller shaft on the skimmer pump, so no sump yet.

Water params are as follows:

Salinity: 1.0265 (crept up while I was away, working on lowering it slowly)
PH: 8.0 to 8.2
Ammonia: 0
Nitrate: 10 to 20ppm
Phosphate: 0.07 (up a little from last test)
Alk: 7.0 dkH
Ca: 410 to 420
Mg: 1245

Any thoughts from the more experienced on what could be bugging my colt?

Way ahead of you on that. ;) I have an adoption ad up on my local aquarium/reef club's website. The thought was he'd leave the snails alone as he was too big for their shells. Guess I didn't take into account the fact that snail meat is apparently quite tastey.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the crab for me. If you have a sump with a refugium just put the crab in there for now just to see if the coral regains its health and color. Lol thats what i did until i got rid of the crabs
