Help from Members NEEDED!!!!

Some of you may know that we might be moving soon. We're still in the process of doing closing on a house right now. Unless it falls through, which I won't know until we close on the house. Hopefully by the end of this month. By paying movers, closing cost, transfer of service, blah blah is gonna make me real tight on my budget. I'm wondering if I can get some help from some of you folks on here, I'm gonna be needing some buckets, tubs, and lots of extra RO/DI water on hand just in case. We'll return the buckets and tubs, etc. once we're done. I have two reef tanks to move other then my aggressive tank and freshwater tank. Once the time is closer to the moving date, I wonder if some of you folks can help me move the tanks as well. Thanks all in advance!!

Yeah, moving is a pain. Are you going to have to move all at once, or will there be some overlap where you can start moving in but still be in your current place? If you can overlap, you could get a huge trashcan for your new place and fill it with RO/DI so you'd have plenty on hand there. Probably another filled with fresh saltwater. And probably a large tub filled with saltwater from your main tank that can be used to house corals and fish while you move the actual tanks. I have a couple of powerheads (MJs) and a small heater (75W, I think) that you could use.

I have a lot of trash cans I use for tanks for water so will be able to help you also can use longer hoses to keep water from old tanks to move into your new setup. I have some trailers and stuff you can use and if I can I will try to be there depending on the day.

I don't have any tubs that I think would be big enough to really help out, but do have 3 or 4 5 gallon buckets if they would help. Can probably also help you move depending on the days/times. Keep us updated.

I got 5 of the 5gallon jugs. I am also trying to get my RODI setup this week. If I do I will run off as much water as needed for you. If that helps.

Ive got a couple of large rubber maid tubs I kept my live rock in (after i found out the 150 leaked until I got the 120) that you are welcome to use.

Thanks guys, I will keep it updated. I'll let you guys know when we find out the date. I have to plan this on my day off so it's hard to do. First I have to find out about the closing date. I feel soooo loved with so many people willing to help, thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rollface:
The one I am afraid to move is the 90 bowfront RR, I think we'll have to remove the plumbing on the bottom of the tank inorder to move it, or set it up on something to prop it up. Not sure yet.... Thanks again!!!

I'd definately recommend removing anything protruding from a tank asap after draining the water from it and before taking off the stand. Even if it requires cutting it off and using a new bulkhead. It'd be a good time to replace bulkheads anyway. I know I was quite irritated when I bought a used tank in Murfreesboro, hauled it on a trailer to old hickory/I-65 area, spent the night, and then drove it 2 hours back to Florence the whole time with an overflow spout on the end sticking over the front of the trailer and it made the drive fine. But when we carried the tank up the driveway and to the back yard for cleaning the PVC caught my arm and cracked the tank when we sat it down. It's now a freshwater tank with a piece of acrylic siliconed inside one end.

Something about an ounce of prevention.

And I'd definately agree with Jack about speading the move out over several days. The longer the better. Other things? Remember to acclimate even if it's water from the existing environment. If you used coolers in addition to buckets, consider that a cooler seems to suck out a lot of heat from the water initially but stays consistent after that. And you WILL use more water than you expect. For your total 190 gallons existing, I'd recommend to have at least 70 gallons of premixed SW around for the move. If not closer to half your total volume. Consider it a precaution and not a waste, and remember you can always use that water in a few weeks for a water change if it's not all used in the move and you keep it moving with a PH.

Just helped on a tank move last weekend, so these things are fresh on the mind.

we moved my 125 with pumping attached in my pickup, I built a wooden support under it to keep it up off the truck bed and secured it by screwing 2x4's around it. it traveled over 300 miles without a hitch. call me - email me the dimensions i still have the get up i used (just in case) maybe i can modify it to work for yours.

The dimensions of the tank is 48x18x28, it's a Oceanic 90g RR bowfront. Thanks for all the help guys, I'm still freaked out about moving it......The time is ticking.....I got someone with a pickup truck that can help me move on the 1st of April, does anyone else owns a truck that can help? Just in case if that doesn't work out.....Thanks guys!

Michael I have the trailers and the expedition that you can use I am not sure if I will be able to be there though but you will be able to come get it in advance. It will be enough space to move anything it is a car haler.

oh ......... how much space under the tank do you need for the pipes to clear (be generious) add at least 1" i'll probably will increase it a little too.

I think at least 5" clearing....I'll let everyone know as soon as I hear something. For now, I can have Sunday the 1st off so let's see if I can get the closing done before then. Thanks for the offers everyone, I'll get back to y'all when I hear something soon!!!

FINALLY we've got the house. We're gonna start moving next Sunday and I'll see what I can find out about the exact day for moving the tanks cause I don't think I can do that much in one day. All the people who wanted to help out before, please let me know if your still up for it, thanks!!!

Where are you moving to ? I asssume its from Antioch... I am closing on a house in about 10 days myself...so I maybe able to help some, depending on whether its when I have my kids or not.
