Well since I just found out the ACjr can't be controlled by wifi I decided to go up to the Apex lite because the main reason im getting this is to make sure everything is in check while we go down to indiana which is a lot and figured I could get someone to feed it twice a day and I can make sure everything else is in check but before i order it what exactly do i need to control it by wifi with a ipod touch or my labtop? Also could an average joe be able to get this thing programed after reading a little its not like crazy programming lol? Thanks agian.

If you have a PC and serial connection to an ACJr you can control it via the internet using a program called ACSerial2Web (I have a link to the software on my software page). ACSerial2Web simulated an AC3 connection so you can use browsers and such to make a connection. If you want to upgrade to an Apex then a base model + network grear (which would depend on what you currently have in way of home networking) would be a base to start with. The variables are too much to give you an exact list without knowing what network gear you are running currently.

right now we have high speed comcast internet that is wireless. we have a linksys router can't remeber what one fairly new. computer room is on the main floor and my tank is in the basement if that matters.

In addition to the Apex, you might look into an auto feeder such as the Ehiem. With one, I've left my tank for up to 2 weeks with no need for anyone to come over. I also have a webcam so I can see, monitor and control my tank remotely while traveling.

I was actually going to look into those did not know how good they were though and how long they would last. And the webcam idea is great I will have to look into that. Just placed my order for the apex is there any gaming adapter I should look for? Thinking the faster it is the better connection I will recieve from my controller?

ok sweet also thinks for the heads up about that lol I plan on getting it all hooked up before I make it wireless. I was actually looking at the trendnet brand earlier. Well can't wait till it gets here still have to figure out where ima put all this new stuff might have to install a plywood sheet on the inside of the stand because my sides have 1/4in plywood inserts i think so can't mount anything to them.

Well thinks for the help guys and i see theres a lot of help for programming around here which helps me. Time to read the manual while I wait.

Next time you build a stand consider adding a splash-proof, easy access, bay like this:

Thats actually pretty tight lol nice stand by the way=]. actually going to go with the net gear adapter they recommend in the online manual didn't even see it lol been reading it looks like I got a lot of stuff to do.
