well, the tap weater in my area (kissimmee) has a low TDS level, and low everything actually, somsone did a test with the water in Kissimmee and it was surprisignly clean.....but i know, i feel terrible about it, but now i know...

I tested the tapwater and it was like 144.
I still woudn't trust it.
You need to go to Wally World and get one of those big blue water jugs like I have, they're like $6. Get it filled with ro/di and that should last you a couple weeks for top off.

Or better yet....I have a ton of these 5 gallon water cooler bottles. If you want one, I'll give it to ya.

Hey Seth,
The only problem I see with using tap is that I learned about the hardness of the water in FL's aquafirs. I was using a RO unit, that was not removing the hardness from the water. The only way I finally got my alk in check was to convert to only RO/DI, and made sure to test on TDS frequently, as I have changed 3 of my filters already in 6 mo's of purchasing the filter unit. I would also run tests on your alk, just to make sure it's not too high. Just my experience though...Good luck...

Most of the advice here is good. If I were you, I would do a good sized water change with some 0 tds ro/di water. I would then cut down your photoperiod, and wait.... As long as you keep away the root cause of the algae (probably nitrates or phosphates), you should be able to keep it under control..

ok, i will go to the LFS tomorrow and buy like 20 gallons of RODI, and cut my photostime down to 8 hours a day, then watch my nitrates and phos. and then i guess just wait it out, but under close observasion? and then after the bulk of it, i should get a crapload of hermits and snails,( a sea hare aswell?) to take care of what is left of the bloom. SI that all right?
