I wonder why my kilowatt meter only shows 220 watts :crazy1:

Is it the standard Kill-A-Watt? What does it report as VA?

There are a few places where the design cheaps out (having designed power meters), but nothing which throws it that far off. You can sanity check with an incandescent bulb, where you should be within 10% (bulb variances, line voltage)

I tried a 40 watt incandescent bulb and it read 40 watts

Good sanity check then. Not sure why yours would be so low- is it a newer model? Running 46" (~ there never remember the exact length) HO bulbs?
