Help ID please

That is a brittle star. I can't tell its species. One variety is great with reefs. I think it's the green brittle star that will predate on fish at night. Wait for someone who knows brittle stars better than I do. But there's no doubt generally what he is. Just don't let him loose until we have an id on him.

I would say it is a Brown Serpent Brittle Star. It could hunt your fish (small one's) at night. How ever if your fish are healthy they could most likely get a way. Sick, dying or dead would be a different story. If you keep it well fed with silver sides you would most likely be ok.
All of the above is IMO.

It is a detritovore and should be harmless. I couldn't get a feel for how big it is. Try feeding it small bits of meaty foods.

Thanks for the replys. I have slipped him back into the tank. As for the size he was about 2.5 inches in diameter, (including the arms).
