Help id!

I just pulled this off my live rock. Can someone tell me what it is?

Looks like caulerpa macro algae to me. Great nutrient exporter, but has a tendency to take over display tanks and can go sexual causing a MAJOR headache in your tank.

If you don't want it, be sure to pull out all the roots, it will regrow from even the tiniest pieces.
 
I dont want it in my display but my fuge. How would i remove it from my rocks in display? i am moving in the next couple of weeks and it will be a perfect time to make changes.
 
it sticks to rocks pretty well but if you have it in your fuge and have it set up properly it should eat up all the nutrients that its buddies in the display want to eat. This should starve out the caulerpa in your display and contain it to your fuge. If i am not mistaken this is a perfect example of what a fuge is set up to do, give macro algae's a great place to grow eliminating all necessary nutrients from the water column that promote growth of algae in the display. With that being said the fuge should be set up with lights that favor the growth of algae and preferably on an opposite lighting cycle than the display to keep a handle on daily ph swing
