lmao. "definitely not bare skeleton... there is a part of it that is bare skeleton"....?

you contradicted yourself there...

you see the "pits" or holes in the calcium carbonate? those are where the polyps of the coral used to live.

sorry man.

Sorry - that's a dead coral. :-( The lighter greenish white part is just where algae hasn't grown yet. I really hope someone didn't sell that as a live coral.

Thanks for the help y'all. I guess it is what it is. I still won't count it as a loss seeing as I like the coralline.

Ps bobby no need to be rude about it. I was asking a simple question. If you wanted to make a snide remark you should have just kept your mouth shut.

really? huh thats a little strange i can see why you thought it was a sponge then, i would have thought the same thing.

yoo how much did you pay for it? yeah all these people thought the same as I did, but you say it's soft?... I don't know about that. If you only paid $5-10 maybe you should keep it, otherwise, I'd return it and yell the crap out at that lfs person that sold you it...how evil to sell something like that.

It's all good Bobby guess I just took it the wrong way.

I paid 10 bucks for it. I'm gonna take the photo with me to the lfs. I'm in the store 4 times a week probably. Everyone is cool with me there so if it is in fact algae then they were mistaken. I legit trust those dudes and know they wouldn't intentionally screw me.

It's hard to get a real good pic here are a few others.
