this and P. annularis are the only two pomacanthid species that can be found in my country's local waters. but they are super difficult to catch. so i just observe. and feed them clams from the jetty

i tried catching annularis and sextriatus with line and hook at jettys before but they are very clever. they nibble round the bait and leave the hook alone.
my friend have better success using rat traps.
but the occasional copperband washed up on the shores during low tides are easy pickings
Lemon- swim with the fish as frequently as possible and stuff your pockets with clam. Let them know you mean food. Eventually they will allow you to get very close.
I have done this in the Keys (Florida) and managed to coax French and Blue angels to eat from a net. I even managed to capture a juvenile blue angel that was smaller than my thumb nail.
Angels are inquisitive fish, use that to your benefit.
