Hey everyone, about a month into my new system (added live rock, watching cycle) I spotted this little guy on the glass! Blew my mind! Anyway, I'd love some help figuring out what it is!

I have one that looks nearly the same, but it lost 2 legs of it's five. At least mine had five... not sure if same kind.

It looks like a typical asterina starfish to me... most tanks have anywhere from a couple of them to plague proportions of them. :)

+1
Ours are very slow to reproduce so we like them. Hope you wound up with ones you can enjoy.

As for radial arms it just depends on the species and how long ago the star split. Some asterina species look like deformed stars and other are nice and orderly.

Thanks for the help everyone! I had my eye on it for a couple hours then before i knew it the star had dissapeared again... Maybe one day I'll spot it again! Just today I added my first livestock to the system (not counting live rock); a Royal Gramma has the entire tank to itself for now.

Thanks again!
