I got my first coral yesterday. I think so far he's doing great. My LFS' water was so disgusting, the water in their coral tank had an AWFUL smell.
So this morning when the lights came on I noticed this on the glass. What could it be? Reef friendly?

I personally take them out because I find them unpleasing to the eye and yes , some may eat corals. If you don't want hitchhikers from your purchases I would suggest a good coral dip solution.

Nice to see someone from Montreal ! I have yet to make a trip to see all the LFS up there. Definitely on my bucket list for the summer :bum:

I don't mind him chilling on the glass but don't want any problems for my future corals.
My lfs is way overpriced :( wouldn't be happy to see my torch go..

That's too bad to hear :/ If you want to protect your investment just yank it out! I doubt it will do anything to the torch but just to be on the safe side , you will eventually see it as a pest with time :)

I don't trust them.....and beyond that, they reproduce like crazy!

I had ONE.....Now I pick an average of 5 out of my tank every day. :angryfire:

I'm pretty sure that one is harmless. From what I remember reading...the ones with the orange center are the bad ones. I've had the good ones in my tank for years...never had a problem.

I have had them in the past. Be careful they can explode in population very quick. On the plus side harlequin shrimp eat them

Asterina Star as said above. Most are harmless. Their populations will wax and wane throughout the life of your tank. Some days I see tons of them in my tank. Other days, they are hard to find.

I would personally keep it unless it is green on the top. As you see them increase in number pull a few out here and there to keep their numbers in check.
