Help in Pairing ...

Several weeks ago I got my first clown (appears to be a True Perc due to the color, but will post pics tonite). When I it (only saying IT since im not sure on sex), it was TINY (smaller than a peppermint shrimp) and has grown a decent ammount over the past few weeks (now lightly larger than a pep). I am looking to get a tankmate this weekend and was wondering what the best way to go about this would be? While it looks COMPLETELY happy hosting with my frogspawn/hammer (noone can give me a clear ID since it looks like both, possibly a hybrid) and bringing it chunks of flake food, I think it would be happier with a friend

Are they all males when they are small and then change to female as the demand is needed? Since this was in a tank by itself when I got it and it was soo small are the chances of it still being male there? Should I try for another small one or try for a larger (adult)?

I remember a thread about this awhile ago and now I cant find it, so any help is appreciated
 
I'm not sure when they actually decide to become females, but I'd just go for a smaller one to be safe.
 
almost certainly male or non-sexed juvie. If you try tointroduce a larger fish anticipating it will become the dominant female get one considerably larger than ou current fish.
 
So ill look for one that is either:

A. Very young (like this was used to be)

or

B. Much larger(older)

And for an ID .. this would be a True Perc, correct?

Couldnt find another True Perc and decided to take my chances on mixing a bit ... got her this morning ... they have been inseperable since introduced to the tank (my LFS does QT and has had this one in their tanks for a few weeks now). The false likes to explore since its a new tank and my little one happily follows along and they both love to snuggle in the frogspawn. Also found a nice sized hammer frag today that they might enjoy at some point.

If they are tail to tail the little one only comes up the front "point" of the larger ones middle bar.
