Help, Is My Red Starfish In Trouble?

HI Everyone,
Last Wednesday I got a red starfish in from BZA.
All week he has stayed in the same spot (clinging to the underside of a rock) just moving his legs a bit.
This morning he was out on top of a rock and moving around, and he is now, However I am concerned.
There seems to be some sort of gut like stuff ( dont want to say guts for sure, as I dont know what starfish guts look like) sitting ON TOP of him, right dead center in the middle of his body It is orange and peachy colored and sorta forms a circle. DOES ANYONE know what this is??
At first I thought it was some sort of feeding mechanizm, but that doesnt seem possible when I think about it. Anyone seen this, or have one of these starfish?? Thanks so so much!

i had the same thing happen to the stars i had, mine were fine for the longest time, but i belive that they did not get enough to eat and started to deteriorate. If its the same thing it will get bigger and bigger until the star is dead, if it isnt aready mine didint move much when they got this problem

Mine is acting the oposite way though, he hasnt moved UNTIL he got this problem, and I can see why he would be starving as he hasnt moved an inch for about a week until today.
I have had a starfish deteriorate though, and that is NOT what this one is doing, unless there is more than one way to deteriorate?
