Help me choose a reef safe wrasse!

From what I've read flasher and fairies eat swimming pods rather than picking the rocks?



Tempted by chalk bass instead of wrasses now.....







New game guys, suggest reef safe fish for my tank based on the stocking I've listed already - clowns are coming soon already at lfs, fox is on order

You are correct about flasher and fairy wrasses eating frm the water column rather than picking pods from the rocks.

If you are going to keep a mandarin in that size tank I would absolutely stay away from Halichoerus wrasses and Leopard wrasses. I have two Halichoerus in a 72x24 tank and don't have any visible pods (tank is 22 months old). Because of their short gut even a mandarin that is eating frozen will starve unless you are feeding it many, many times a day. I'm sure eatbreakfast can tell us (because I don't know) but possum wrasse may also be pretty voracious pod eaters also?

Possums are, but make a lot less of a dent than the avearge Halichoeres or Macropharyngodon being a fraction of the size.

My Razor starts and finishes on low blues and steps up and down so should be ok - saddle clowns apparently prone to spooking if you don't have gradually inc/decreasing lights.



Are these wrasses generally ok with larger shrimp? I did want to add a few shrimp , mainly peps and cleaners

Yep, that's the one. That picture doesn't do it justice though. I have two medium to small cleaner shrimp and it's never bothered them once.
