I have Dennerle 15" (L) X 15" (W) X 17" (H) nano aquarium and i am looking for some cheap light like D120 only that it will cover my tank evenly (not overkill it).

Can you please recommend me the LED light for this tank?

I know D120 and E.shine System lights, but dont know if they are suitable for my aquarium.

Can you please tell me? Or should i consider DIY on custom heatsink?

Suggest me please. I have empty tank at home and urgently need LED light.

Consider this, that i am student and dont have too much money to spent... Got to eat while i study too :lmao:

Will do it anyway... I will use Cree leds, but do not know how much LEDs for this tank and LED color (how much CW and how much RB)? And which driver is the best (dimmable)?

I want to have the light 10" high above the tank top

Ok, PAR bulb looks interesting, but i would need 2, so the price is the same as some cheap China LED fixtures.

So...

I could make DIY setup for nano (CREE or BRIDGEON) or buy E.shine System lights

So as this is my first LED setup i dont have any experience about how high i should put the light, if i chose 90 degree optics?

I think that this E Shine light is not bad for my tank, but i would rather have d120 if it would not be too powerfull or big for 15" tank?

Can you please suggest something?

My empty tank is waiting for the light...

Tank that small go diy with Cree don't waste your time saving $15 on bridgelux LEDs. I would use eln 60 48 drivers.

i would say build small 8" module , if you are planning to keep sps, then go with 50w led with dimmable driver and " ebay " color temp available from 14k-30k and and then right arround it add 3w royale blue, blue, red , amber and leave them without optic so that you dont have spot light of color and that should do it , it should not cost you much. i recently bought 18 3w bridglux blue leds and non dimmable driver for 18 bucks from ebay and they are working fine, with this design not too many wires to deal with and fixture will look neat and one large fan should be enough to cook it down.

Here is my 1.5 Gallon at work. I built a DIY LED setup from an old desklamp I had. This one has 4 cree LEDs, one cool white and three royal blues. I have to keep it as high as it will go, about 18" above the water to not fry the mushrooms and gsp that I have in there.

That 50w LED does look interesting... But probably i will do custom Cree led light
combined with:

Cree Royal Blue
Cree Cool White
Cree Warm White

Philips Luxeon Rebel blue 460-490nm
Epileds Super Actinic 400-410nm
Epileds Super Actinic 410-420nm
(do i need green and red if i use warm white?)

on 12X12" heatsink

My goal is full spectrum.

Can you sugesst how much LED do i need i tought about 36 total, and it will not be at 100% power but on 30-50% and which drivers would be the best?

What do you think about how many each leds do i need?

Thank you

I have a 15x15x13 cube. Mostly SPS, a maxi mini, some ricordea. My light is 200w at full blast, it's dimmed way down.

+1 on using a multichip - no disco lights, it's easy to make. I'd suggest a 50 watt or so as well. I myself have an overkill light that is based on a 60w citizen white emitter surrounded by 120w worth of blue and some 420nm UV. I have to say, even with the tightest grouping I could manage, I still get bad disco lights. I am going to be upgrading my light to a 5 channel multichip (10000k/445/420/455/15000k).
