Help me decide on next MH bulbs

I really like the look of the 400w SE XM 20k. Are the 250's about the same look. The 14k coralvues I have are pretty sweet...want something a little more blueish. Also a friend has 20k hamiltons, my 14k's are more blue than those.

Whats anyones suggestion on a really nice blue, maybe just a touch bluer than my 14k coralvue, for 250 SE

thanx

p.s. don't care about par or price

I've seen the reeflux 12k, but only in 400 watt. Do you think the 12k's are bluer than my 14 coralvue (not reeflux)

and I've never seen the pheonix 14k...are they SE

Those 20k XMs are nice. But first, What type of ballast are you planning on driving 250s with? Electronic, regular tar or HQI? I run Radium 250 on HQI (250 watt) ballasts. The result is an overdriven bulb that does not appear too blue. But then, I use 2xpc and 2x vho actinics to supp. more blue.

good point I forgot to mention. Well I have one magnetek ballast...and 2 M58's running my bulbs now.

I used to have XM 10k...switched to coralvue 14k ( the 14k with VHO actinic was awesome)...I'll be adding VHO later, but for now just gonna rock the MH.

aqualine bushki (sp) I am using the DE bulbs.

do they make a SE bulb...couldn't fine one online

If you like the 400W SE XM 20K on a magnetic ballast then you'll like a 250W DE Phoenix 14K on an electronic ballast. Now that my bulbs are burned in, I can't even tell if there's a transition in color across my tank. This is just my opinion though. :)

i love the hamilton 14,000k i switched to about a month ago. 250w SE on a standard PFO ballast. i've seen my growth increase and the color is a nice blue as well.

400 Watt XM 20 is awsome on tar ballast,, A little dimmer on a electronic.. very nice color after burn in period......
My XM 10K's on ice cap ballasts are a little yellow now they have burn in,. but im running T5's to fill in

I agree with some of the others...14k's with actinics...it seems to be just the right amount of blue without being dark.

Benf... What brand 250's are you running. I've had hamilton, phoenix and coralvue all 14k and geismann 13k. I think I liked the phoenix bulbs the best. The coralvue went to crap too fast. One went bad within a week and then the replacement only made it 5 months. I'll need new bulbs come this dec/jan and i'm trying to figure out what to get. I also run 1 blue and one daylight T5. I need to change that up also.
