Ten years ago we had a 110 gal reef tank with halide lighting, chiller and Mega money in goodies . Long story short came home late one night only to splash though 100 of the 110 gals of the tank in my living room carpet:eek1: No more reef tank. About 2 months ago I got the urge and bought a 125 long from craigs list. It is drilled at both ends with a big sump. It came with 3 96 watt cfls and a few blue/purple (poor quality) LEDs. Got about 100 pounds of good live rock with critters from a gal breaking down her tank. We ran the whole thing in with no probs. Current fish load:
2 false perculas (were very small but they eat like pigs and are growing)
1 peppermint shrimp - rode in on the rock
1 barnacle goby/blenny
1 tiny hippo tang (this is a 6 foot long tank & he is smaller than a quarter)
1 coral beauty (currently in qt due to suspected ICH)
1 fire or flame goby ( don't remember the right name. the cheap one)
Lots of clean up crew
thinking of another goby or blenny

I want to go with some soft coral. Maybe easy stuff like green star polyps. I would also like to get the coraline algae cooking. Here is the problem. I promised my wife I would NOT go overboard with the coral stuff this time:D
All of the water parameters are good. Ro/di water etc. Do ya think I can do polyps with cfls in a tank like this? Also wife would like a yellow tang but I worry about the little hippo getting beat up.
