Hi Guys - PLEASE HELP!!!
I have a 65 Gal Reef aquarium with UV Sterilizer, open wet/dry sump, protein skimmer, etc. Two weeks ago, I noticed that my Sweet Lips was acting a bit strange. He only wanted to swim in one location, and appeared a bit...off. The next day, the Sweet Lips was doing cartwheels and seemed to be blind while having little to no control over his bladder. One day later, and he was dead.
Yesterday I noticed that my Flame Angel was also picking one spot to swim in and was not very active. This morning, he is also blind and swiming aimlessly.
Neither fish has had any visual signs of disease (pot marks, holes, ich, rotting fins). I have not seen them "flash". The only notable problem I have had recently was a microbubble problem (not ich). My new powersweep powerheads were pumping out microbubbles (no that doesn't make much sense to me either, but it was the case) which were attaching themselves to the flame angel over night. I would turn the powerheads off, and 15 minutes later, no ich-like spots on the flame angel. (At first I did think I had ich, but seeing one of my friends go through a similar problem first hand, I thought to try turning the pumps off to see if the "ich" went away).
So there you have it. Both fish have had good apetites up until the time of their ailment. I feed alternating foods of brine shrimp, mysis shrinp, and a multipack which includes some herbivore food. (I also throw in a tiny bit of flake food every now and then). And I'm not over feeding. The three remaining fish get the equivalent of 1/2 a frozen cube a day.
The only major change in the tank is that it has been converted to a reef aquarium. I have been adding quite a few LPS and softies. With that, I have also been adding small amounts of strontium, iodine, and calcium as per directions.
PLEASE HELP!
P.S. My Pseudochromis is hanging out in one location.
