I'm looking for a large tank 80g+, preferably bow-front. I have good lighting but I need everything else. Also what is the best area (I live in Cordova) resource to get supplies, fish, corals. I just moved from Bowling Green, KY a few months ago for a Network Analyst job at International Paper.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm possibly Going to take down a 75g reef ready with 29g sump. I live in Cordova too. Gimmie a call. Will pm u my #

Chuck: There are three LFS here in Memphis other than the big box stores. Two of them are sponsors of the club so we certainly want to give them props. Our sponsors are Kermits is in Cordova which should be very close to you (off Macon Road), and Memfish which is in east Memphis (I-40 and Mt. Moriah). Everyone has their favorites, but I think we all have worn pathways to each of them.

The third one is Something Fishy and is at I-40 and Whitten. It is a very nice store as well.

I am not sure if you revisited your original post, but Daniel does have some items left so you might also want to check with him.

Thanks for the info guys. I met Daniel last night and ended up purchasing what he had left. Now I'm planning for the big move. The tank is a 120g with some corals still left and live rock. Has anyone done a big tank move like this? Daniel and I were talking and we were thinking I should try to keep at least half the water so I don't stress the corals. Any advice?

And a bunch of Tupperware containers!!!!
Word!

Before the move should we A. vacuum the sand when we are getting rid of half the water, B. not mess with it, or C. get rid of sand and put new in?
Does anybody have a water barrel that we can borrow for this move?

well i just did a 225 gal break down and up with a new 170 gal corner tank. i m still trying to get everything straight all lighting, stand rebuild, etc is done... rock and fish are in the tank im just trying to get the corals glued in their places now. been a week so far. since the swap.

this may help....

First off i need to say I had alot of help from a friend with a few large tanks that I could store things in.
Frist thing I would do is take all the corals out that I could and put them in a large tupperware container and move them to a place you could keep them there for a day or two if it takes that long with some type of lighting over them. space them out so they do not touch each other. Next I would say set up a large tupperware bin with a power head for the live rock if there are alot of corals on these rock you may need to setup some temporary lighting over the bin to keep em happy. drain the tank and If any fish then catch them and put with live rock and/or coral containers. Its alot easier to catch em when the waters low. and rock is out.

Break the tank and lighting down and move to the new place. set it up how you like and now is the time to make any improvements to the stand, tank, plumbing etc etc... This always takes longer than you think or expected so make sure you have big enough bins to sustain the corals for a day or two. (may need heaters and powerheads) trust me i spent the whole day.. like 16 hours reinforcing the stand and routing plumbing.

after your satisfied so far fill with saltwater and then place the rock in and aquascape the tank. then the fish, then the corals. then lights.

I personally would save a couple of cups of the old sand and throw the rest away. There is some nasty funk in a deep sandbed. It can cause a major nitrate spike. Add the 2 cps of old sand to the new sand to help seed it.

Any advice?

Welcome Back!!! I love seeing that, an I see a distinct repeating pattern: People Fade, then come back. I myself have an 8 gallon nano I've been waiting to set up in our new Offices, but we haven't moved in yet.

The Original $pousal Unit is already clamoring at how I'm going to do water changes in a High-rise (work) environment, but it's only a 1-gallon Water change, so I say "bite me"!
