definitely a Derasa. i see some bleaching from the excurrent syphon to the left and no new shell growth. what lighting do you have and how long have you had the clam?

i got the clam 2 weeks ago from a guy that was taking down his tank. i have it placed on the end of my tank because the light is brighter. i have 2 250w metal halides and 4 96w pc's. i have noticed it is not opening up as often or staying open long. the flesh is lightening in color also. his average tank temp was 79-81 or 82. mine tends to reach highs of 85-86 some times during the day. could this have some effect on it.

what can i do to reverse the bleaching? i have put a big fan over my sump, but it will probobly only lower the temp a degree or two. i also moved the clam more to the center of the tank. this is where i had him when i first got him and he seemed to stay open when he was there.
