Help me pick fish for 60 cube reef

I like the golden assesor, how will that do with the other fish on my list

Generally, golden assessors are non-aggressive. I have it in a 34 gallon system with 4 other fishes with no problems. Sometimes it swims upside down, which is cool.

+1 to the Golden Assesor. Mine swims upside down and sideways. Neat fish.

Cleaner shrimp are excellent. Always out and about foraging for food and cleaning it's tankmates.

Flasher Wrasse. Admittedly, I have a bad case of wrasse fever and I'm bias, but these fish are just beautiful and are excellent reef fish. Even better in a harem.

Jawfish. You want personality? Tons of personality in these fish. I've never kept one but every time I've observed them, they crack me up. You will need a substrate with rock rubble, shells, etc for them to build their burrow.

There! Now you have more options than you have room for which is the absolute worst part of reefkeeping. Getting your list down to an acceptable number for the size tank you have.

Good luck with your tank

I have a 60 cube (2x2x2) and it's primarily a goby tank. My "big" fish is a generic "red wrasse" who is well behaved but I think the tank's a little small for him. I would rehome him if it were remotely possible to get him out without destorying everything....which it's not.

I have a pair of tiger gobies and green banded gobies. A pair each of yellow line gobies, sharknose gobies and Hybrid Cleaner Gobies.

I also have a green clown goby, yellow watchman goby, antenna goby and Yasha Haze goby. I have one rainford goby and one 10 year old PJ Cardinal fish who just sort of hangs out in the back.

A recent but wonderful addition was a group of blue eyed cardinals. They are personable and not too timid, and just gorgeous when the light hits them. I have one "special" clownfish too. He's little and goofy and not too bright but amusing non the less.

The cube is great for all the gobies, there are always faces peering out of everywhere. The 2' footprint is limiting so it's a little cramped for space for the larger free swimming fish. Mine is a 50/50 split of SPS/LPS.

I would love to see a pic of your tank

In this iteration, the tank is about 1.5 years old. The stocklist is mainly all the gobies I mentioned in a previous post.

2x yellow lined gobies
2x sharknose gobies
2x hybrid gobies
2x green banded gobies
1 Green Clown Goby
1 Rainford Goby
1 Hector's Goby
2x Tiger Gobies
1 Yellow watchman goby
1 yasha haze goby
2x antenna gobies
1 "Red" wrasse
1 Clownfish
1 10yr old PJ Cardinalfish
2x Blue Eyed Cardinalfish

I have 11 clams. 2 crocea, 1 derasa, 1 squamosa and the rest maximas. It's a 50/50 split of sps/lps with one massive elegance (I just had to build an "elegance retaining wall" over the weekend.

I did try a tang in it....I wouldn't reccommend it LOL. He was tiny when I got him and for a while I had a 125ga in the works that was to be his final home, but I didn't have time for such a large tank so I had to get rid of him. It was a purple tang and he didn't have anywhere near enough room, and was getting flat out aggressive, an I really wanted a low-key, stress-free tank for the fish.

My cube is so simple it's almost embarassing. I had a custom 20x20x12 sump made for underneath. No baffles or anything, I just have a lot of live rock and chaeto for a bubble catcher, and an in-sump Octopus skimmer. Lighting is a pair of 5 bulb T5HO units. I have an MP40 on it for flow, and an MP10 as backup/additional as the Acros grow in and snuff out the flow pattern. Otherwise, that's it. I'm terrible about maintenance LOL and do water changes when I remember to. Mostly I leave it alone and it does the rest.

I want to re-home the elegance as it takes up way too much space, but I have had it for almost 7 years and have a love/hate relationship with it. I love the cube, and the dimensions, and some day when I have the pennies for it, my final upgrade will probably be the same tank, but the 3'x3' version!

I love the tank, it's perfect for my small house and limited budget/time frame LOL!

You get a lot of depth for not a huge tank, so have some fun with it. My poor photo skills don't show the depth. The center of the tank is built upon a nice, large, dinnerplate sized shelf rock. If I didn't have the elegance to cater too I would have tried and done a "spiral staircase" up the center with flat rocks.

Maybe someday in my 3x3!

The depth is one of my favorite things about the tank! Im so ready for mine to finish cycling so I can start adding livestock

sorry for budding in, but i have to add about the sixline wrasse. i would avoid it. i had a fire dart fish and then added the last. the sixline and dartfish were fine for a couple of days until the sixline started beating the dart fish. i thought he was gone until i saw him emerge from the rocks all beat up. then i had to tear my rockwork all up to try and get him out of there. not a good experience. a fish you may want to consider is a fang tooth blenny. he acts like a six line like how he roams the tank and hovers looking around the rocks. i had one until he got caught in one of my power heads. he was one of my favourites. but one thing to point out though is that he is venomous. but dont worry, it isnt major. he'll only bite if hes swallowed or chased. and its like a bee sting.

I love the 60 gallon cube as a starter and or small to medium size saltwater aquarium. There are many options of fish, corals, and inverts that will keep you staring at your tank for hours.

Some suggestions of fish that I enjoy that are on the smaller size in my 75 gallon:

Orange banded prawn goby with pistol shrimp (Amblyeleotris randalli)
Midas Blenny (Ecsenius midas)
Yellow Coris Wrasse (Halichoeres chrysus)
Flame Angel (Centropyge loriculus)

Some of my favorite inverts are Linkia starfish and Halloween Urchins

Its like a bee sting to humans or other fish?

I am highly allergic to bees so they may have a different meaning to me than the average person lol

Lockhartia- isn't that a lot of fish for a 60g even though they are smaller?

I was a little curious about that as well.

I dont know anything though and your tank looks great to me?
Do you have any aggression issues or parameter issues?

Several people have mentioned a goby shrimp pair and I am extremely interested.

I dont know anything about the relationship they share could someone explain to me how that works?

i meant to humans, as for your allergy, i dont think it applys here. i think it just hurts as one. it probably wont even think about harming you unless you try to harass it like a fish would
