Help me solve my tank crash. Plenty of evidence...

Well hope your tank has a great restart. I dont think you will ever find it to many things that could have done it.
Could have been the fresh paint in the office giving off voc's and the air systems could have just been recirculating the same air. Maybe something died during move and nuked tank.
Well good luck

Thanks buddy

Someone here mentioned heavy metals. I read your post a couple times to be sure I didn't miss anything. You didn't state whether or not you're using any kind of chemical filtration. If the fish are doing fine it's most likely something in your water. I'm not a detective but you said it started after you moved the tank which suggests that something might have gotten into the water. You also mentioned the word 'paint' which is a red flag. Maybe some douche dumped something in your tank. YOU NEVER KNOW. If I were you I'd use GAC and A LOT of it and do an emergency water change of 100% (everyday 20% or so). If you have heavy metals in the water the GAC will remove it and you should see an improvement in your corals.

Thanks for your response justaclownfish!
Do you think it would be okay if I just did a bag of carbon? I really don’t have room for a reactor.

It has crossed my mind that someone put something in my tank. I am the production manager at my facility so there are many tough performance and behavioral accountability conversations that I have to deliver. Let's just say I have had people not like me very much some days. I hate to think this way but it is a possibility. Maybe it is time to install a camera in my office.

My guess is multiple tank moves irritated your leather and it finished off the other already stressed corals. Sorry for the crash.

All right.
I got some test results tonight everything looks good.
Salinity-1.024 (I’m going to get it up to 1.026)
PO4-.006
NO3- 10-15 (I have started dosing Nopox)
Alk-8.6
Cal-420
MG- 1350
Temp- 77

NO3 and PO4 have gone up a little but I am happy to see that algae and cyano are going away. Hopefully the Nopox brings the nitrates down to 5 or so. I am okay with where phosphates are at.

Leather coral looks great with my new AI Nano. I am going to get away from Kalk and go with a doser for just ALK. Water changes once a week keep my mg and ca at stable levels.

Hopefully it was just a combo of the moves and having everything stirred up. I once reused sand when moving a tank and it caused a spike that killed off a lot of the tank. Just go for stable parameters and good tank management and water changes and all that good stuff.

Yeah I think I am through it for the most part. I will give it a month before I add a couple of corals. I am going to slowly add corals just to make sure I’m out of the deep end.
Thanks for all the support everyone!

I think this is more likely the cause. Nothing much in my mind is coincidence and moving the sandbed, ive done that many times and although ugly for a few days to a week it didnt kill everything like you are experiencing. I also think jumping on the light with SPS dominant is really a guess. 99% of the time when stuff like this happens it's environmental or some type of chemical contamination. Paint, depending on the kind with an office building circulating the same air would Deffinatley kill a reef. These are all specualtions mind you and I am sorry for what has happened but lighting after all the rest described seems an easy scapegoat.

I have huge leather colonies and can attest to this as well. Hard adding anything new to my tank because of them.

Beautifull!!
Yeah I love leathers. I just ordered some carbon to put on my system to clear out any contaminants.
Hopefully whatever it was it won't happen again

Love the leather, I had one just like those I grew from a tiny frag into a large beauty. Reading the OP this would be my conclusion in order of most likely.
1. Metals from the magnet. I have seen this first had from cheap pumps, magnets and lose razor blades.
2. Over stressed from moving the tank so much so soon.
3. Chemicals from the remodel of the office from paints ect being in the air.
4. Chemical warfare between corals in a small tank.

Thanks!
Yeah there are so many ways that this could have happened. I am pretty upbeat about this and will once again learn the hard way.
I am getting some Red Sea reef spec carbon to run on this system to hopefully rid any dangerous chemicals in my tank
