I was admiring my tank today and right in front of me my powder blue look to have had a heart attack. The fish bumped around till he reached the corner of the tank, where he now lies. His color is great and isn't spotty, sick, or scared looking. Although he is breathing heavy and gilling. Please help me. I was told that this has been heard to happen but isn't common. I was also told not to bother him and see what happens. Whats up with him?? His friends want to know too

how big is it? how big is your tank? how long have you had it? how was it eating? anything that youve added or changed in you tank recently? how is your water?

Just checked water. Everything is right on. 75 gallon reef. Hes 5" and 9 months old. Best eater in the tank. No changes.

Just throwin' this out there, but is there any stray voltage going through the tank? Test with a voltmeter.

That would affect more than just one fish. What are it's tankmates and what kind of water movement do you have going on in the 75?

Please provide water measurements. Saying they are fine is not very useful. You know of course, that a PBT won't do well in a 75 gallon tank?

Ok doctors. phosphates .25, nitrates 5.0, ph 8.1, nitrites 0.0, calcium 440. ammonia 0.0. temp 79.9 . 75 gallon is not too small. a lot worse situations for powder blues?

Well, I suppose worse would be in a nano, but never the less, you might find it instructive to read some of the sticky threads at the top of this forum. A PBT is a very advanced care fish, and does not deserve to be kept in a 75 gallon tank.
