HELP, Millennium Coin Zoos are MAD!

Hey, I bought a colony of some super yellow metalic looking zoos a while back at a popular LFS...

They did fine, looked great, and also had some pink dot zoos on the rock too..

Well, for some reason they have all closed VERY tightly and are not opening, havent in some time now and look to be receeding... I DONT KNOW WHY!

I fragged the pink dots off and placed them on another rock, they seem to be fine... but the Millennium Coins ( my created name ) are very very angry..

Ive tried blowing them off a # of times, and tried putting them in more current, less current, more light, less light... not skimming, skimming alot, everything!

they just arent wanting to open at ALL!

Why is this?
Ask any questions you need to know

I have got alot of other zoos.. frags and small colonys consisting of greens, blue, reds, oranges, mix and match, pinks, dragon eyes, sunflowers, and fire and ice... probably a few others too!

I just dont know why this is happening to that one colony!

I am also haveing a fairly bad Dinoflaggelete (sp?) problem.. I cant seem to grasp.

Ive noticed if I dont keep them blown off the dinos will get on the rock.

rrrrr

also, Ive got some green rim/silver center zoos I got on a plug and they are .. sorta retreating away from the plug, Ive had them a while, they have slipped over to another rock it looks like and are not growing away from the plug... odd enough!

whats the deal!

Maybe this will help!

I use RODI water (kent system 2 RO membrains, 1 DI and carbon and prewhateveritscalledthingcartrige.)

Drip Kalk
use B-Ionics Ca/Alk

Nitrates are undetectable
phosphates are undetectable
Ca is 450-460ppm
Alk has been slightly low lately for some reason its been 2.5 of so... hum.......

1.026

anything else you need ask away!

OH, And I use DTS Phyto to feed once or so a week
I also have started useing Oyster eggs, REALLY LIKE THEM! target feed my SPS and goni with it, they seem to like that too much! haha

no, Please dont make the pull pics out, its hard enough to get pics of it...

looks like a very mad, extremely tightly close small colony of zoos... with a bit of algae growing on the skin.

No nudis, not eatten, just VERY VERY upset and unhappy...

they have turned into almost JUST a mat, and no polyps, the polyps are closed so bad...

Hey, there was another reefer that was perplexed by a similar problem.
He finally posted a pic and a couple of us quickly saw his problem. He fixed it and the zoas are doing much better now.

If dino's are showing up, then you have a nutrient problem. Stop feeding the eggs and phyto for at least 2-4 weeks or at least cut your feedings back hard.

Also, a lot of people out there don't realize that phyto can go bad. If you're not mixing it at least once a week, it can completely crash and then you're dumping dead phyto and ammonia into your tank. Best way to find out is to give it the sniff test. You'll know if it's bad or not.

Please post a pic.:)

How much light are they in???? You may want to move the rock if you can, sometimes it's the location in the tank.

I wanna see a pic of these.
I would but they are closed...

Dinos where there before I started feeding. I have stopped and have resumed skimming with my ASMG2 and am doing large waterchanges.

Here are the crappy pix... they where moved for the pictures.
nothing much to see besides ****ed zoos.

Ignore the Achilles Butt... he always has to get into every shot!

Told ya' they where going to be crappy pictures!

perhaps the mushrooms next to them are killing them? i wouldn't bother feeding phyto, i haven't for years, and nothing different was noted.

LOL! they have NOT been there... I moved them there JUST for the picture...

its not the shrooms!

what else could it be?

Shawnts--try all of the above bro. Try a hopital tank with pc lighting. Your an LFS employee, cant the store owner help you out some?

well yeah, I never thought of that..

Oddly enough, I have moved them next to the mushrooms and they are opening up again...

HUM>>> strange eh!?
