Help missing Clown

I have a 40 gal. w/some soft corals, zoos, umbrella mushrooms, open brain coral and 35 lbs of live rock. it's a semi new tank, about 3 months old, and doing great. temp. is at constant 79. i have 3 chalk bass in the tank and added a small Ocellaris clown. he was doing great, all night he was looking around the tank, having a great time. he's about 1 inch long, so he's tiny, this morning when i woke up, he was MIA, i checked the floor and didn't see anything, i've looked through the tank and can't find him. i was wondering if A.) The shrooms ate him, the one is about 5 inch in diameter, B.) The open brain ate him, i've read that they are fish eating. C.) he got stuck in a rock or is hiding. i've heard that they hide, but i've looked everywhere. if he is stuck in a rock, can he get out.

you've only had him one day?? I would give the fish at least 2 more days before I became concerned. FYI large mushrooms are capable of eating fish. if it tried to sleep in one it may have become a midnite snack.

This just happened to me about a week ago. Never found him. . .

If fish that are not prone to hiding and they are missing, probably dead. However, I did have a baby clown (inch long maybe) that was shy. Don't mess the tank looking for him, hell turn up if hes alive.

last night i noticed the brain taking a rather large poop, and i've fed it one piece of mysis shrimp. i think he may have eaten the clown if that's possiable, it's a rather large open brain, about 8 inchs long

I agree with sacramentodots. Hang tight and give it a few days. If the fish is alive, it will turn up.

Btw, I have had fish try to hide in between my powerhead and the glass wall. Some fish are very resourceful at hiding. Took me a few days to find that bicolor blenny, but eventually I found him right in plain site.
