For 2 days now my open brain is not inflating. It is all shriveled up. All of the parameters look great. Here are some pics:

Any suggestions?

has it released and zooanthathelle(sp) lately? My brains look this way after they release extra zooanthathelle. Can you spot feed it mysis or cyclopeeze? If it eats I would not be to worried. How long have you had the coral for? Any new tank additions lately or lighting upgrades...

I've had the coral for about 3 months or so. How can i tell if it releases zooanthathelle? I will try to spot feed it tonite. Also, its tentacles have not been out the past 2 nites....

there would have been brown stringy stuff releasing from it's mouth into the water column. I would try ti feed it now if you have the chance. It will except food during the day when enticed. That way if it won't eat more people will be able to chime in as well as they day goes on. I would bet money thats the issue with it but better safe than sorry.

There is some white stringy thing coming from the red part. But nothing from the mouth. . . . . so you think it is okay? What if it doesn't eat?

BTW i like your sig.....very true...

Any chance a fish could be bothering it? I had a similar brain that did fine for a few weeks, then started staying closed. Eventually I winessed my hippo tang nipping at it. Had to give it to a fellow reefer.

Nope, they've been in there for a week or so and they haven't tried hosting anywhere (I'd figure it'd be my frogspawn if anything)

also, there are some white string-like things hanging off of it...in the back. I've seen them before, but paid no attention to them

Feeding rite now....it appears like it is taking the cyclopeze. I put it by its mouth and it curled in...

I have a wellsophylia that normally inflates 10X + its closed size and then it just didn't deflate one day. It wouldn't accept any feedings and I didn't see its tentacles extended at night. It stayed like that for 2-3 weeks and then it puffed back up again. Maybe it had to work on growing its base or something. Best of luck with your brain

Hey man, thanks for your time I really appreciate your time! Reassurance is nice. Especially since that is one of my first corals

BTW i still LOVE your sig.

everyone has a scare here and there. I get to look forward to moving 60 plus pieces of coral an hour north in the upcoming month, let just cross our fingers.
