Help my xenia

I have a problem with Xenia, it has about a month that does not open before opening enough and pulsed. I leave my water parameters

I recommend bringing up your Mg to around 1350, it's not bad now though. Everything else looks ok, which brings me to your lighting situation. What type of lights are you using and where is the Xenia located in the tank. I have read that alot of reefers have better luck with Xenia in a little bit more dirtier tank, meaning readings of nirates. It's recommend they have moderate to high light and moderate to high flow.

Alks too high and your water is too clean for them IMO.

Alk should be aroud 7-8 maybe 9 but not 11 and no Nitrates will make your softies unhappy.

I have my Xenia near the top of my tank closer to the light and it's thriving. Could it be low lighting?

You definitely need some nutrients in that tank for xenia to thrive, They also like high ph, does you ph swing at all throughout the day?

First of all nobody said anything about your traces of ammonia and nitrites? You can't have anything in your tank until they both read 0. Your tank is going through a mini cycle, how old is your tank?

Yes nutrients as in nitrates and phosphates, they like dirty water. Nitrates of less than 10 and traces of phosphates are a good thing.

Xenia is just a tricky coral to begin with IMO. I had a mixed reef tank one time and they never seemed to do very well for me, yet I've seen them in other tanks right up top next to a bunch of acroporas and they were thriving. Go figure...

Id agree that water is too clean. I have a nano that was given to me with the most horrible filtration. so my water isn't ideal by any means, or even close. Im just so limited on that tank. Anyway, my xenia is OUT OF CONTROL. Its a weed!

Where did the ammonia come from? Something die in your tank?

Honestly I had just cycled my new nano tank and I believe I added my couple fish too quickly (rather than one fish, then wait 2 weeks and add other) not giving bacteria time to catch up. It was my mistake

Your parameters are fine and this coral does not care too much for light. I've seen this a thousand times and I have intentionally tried to kill this coral to no avail. By the way, I use the same Android app to track my tank. I see some comments regarding your parameters being out of whack, but they are fine, probably they are reading the range column to the left, instead of the actual numbers on the right.

You problem is simple, your tank is too clean. Which is a good thing. I keep this coral in my tank as a warning coral. If it is doing great and growing, you have a nutrient problem. If it is stuck and looks "sad" your tank is clean. If you absolutely love this coral and want it to grow, start target feeding it twice a week and you will see it grow and look beautiful, but please note that this will impact other areas of your tank.

You may get GHA or your SPS(if you have any) will start to get "Mad".
